Professional Personal TuitionUnlike some Tutoring businesses, all Kip McGrath Professional Tutors are trained teachers. It's been that way since the first Kip McGrath Centre opened over 30 years ago. Lessons are computer and paper-based, with a mix of subject matter covering all aspects of English and Maths. Individually Tailored LearningBefore joining Kip McGrath, every pupil is given a full assessment. This determines the start point for their learning programme and looks at their ability levels as well as other vital factors affecting learning - like vision and hearing. The assessment is free and without obligation. With many of our pupils, this is the very first time a professional has taken so detailed an interest in their currrent ability. Immediately after the assessment, the parent is given a detailed report and recommendations. Tried and Tested Learning Materials The first Kip McGrath Centre opened its doors in 1976, so the learning materials we use today have had over 30 years of continuous development and refinement. Computers were introduced in 1978. Back then, how many educational establishments had computers? For that matter, how many businesses had computers? Today, the ratio of computers to pupils is - and will always remain 1 to 1. An 80 minute session, with a mix of tailored activities, both paper and computer-based...that is the Kip McGrath way - a way that has stood the test of time. And it works today, just as it did in 1976 when Kip himself opened his very first Centre.
Weekly Homework Homework is set and marked every week. This is very important because it gives your child's Professional Tutor valuable feedback about progress against the pupil's personal learning programme. It is vital that any problems are picked up at this stage so that they can be addressed during the next session. Kip McGrath homework is designed to take around a half hour per week. Each pupil is given their own homework folder and homework is collected at the beginning of each session. We aim to have the homework marked ready for feedback at the end of the session. Weekly Feedback
When you enrol your child with a Kip McGrath Centre, you make a commitment to his or her future. We understand this, and our commitment to you is that we will keep you fully informed about how your child is progressing. There is time at the end of each session for you to be briefed by your child's Personal Tutor. You will be told about how the session has gone, progress, any new issues, and the last/next week's homework will be discussed.
